My painting, "Clashing Pastels," is full of swirls in shades of blue, yellow, and pink. When you look closely, you can see how the colors mix together, kind of like marble. It feels like there's a lot of movement, as if everything is shifting and changing.
Emotionally, the painting has a mix of feelings. It's bright and colorful, which can make you feel happy and excited. But if you keep looking, there's a softer, quieter side. It might even feel a little somber, like there's something important happening underneath all the swirls.
At the same time, there's a sense of calm in the chaos. You can find peace in the way the colors flow into each other, almost like they're holding hands. Even though there's some anxious energy in the painting, it's also gentle and sweet. It's a reminder that even when things feel like they're all over the place, there's a kind of beauty in it, and sometimes you just have to go with the flow.
Megan Hale is a 36-year-old artist living in Peoria, Illinois. A dual citizen of Canada and the U.S., she lives with her life partner and has a deep love for film, especially horror. "For me, painting is therapy. It's way to process my trauma, recovery, fear, hope, shame, anger, and joy. My art evolves as I heal, and I heal as I create. Sometimes, it feels like breaking through a black-painted window into a world of broken glass. It still cuts, but I'm free. The wounds are healing. I paint to stay grounded, to give my emotions a voice. When I paints, I hears color and see sound. It’s overwhelming and beautiful. A way to feel and process everything at once.
