Description
This painting is my scream into the void, my way of showing the devastation happening in real-time because of climate change. I used intense blues and whites, swirling together like icebergs breaking apart in Antarctica. The patterns look like a chaotic ocean or a storm in the sky, representing the turmoil our planet is facing. It's beautiful, but it's also terrifying.
When I look at this piece, I feel a deep sense of loss. It's not just about the ice melting; it's about the people and animals whose lives are being upended because of it. Marginalized communities are being hit first and hardest, and those in power seem content to just watch it happen. They offer empty words while the planet burns.
The different shades of blue, from deep cobalt to light sky blue, represent the range of impacts we're seeing—from massive ice loss to rising sea levels. The white areas add a stark contrast, symbolizing the fading hope that we can still do something to change the course we're on. This painting is my way of saying that we can't afford to be passive. We can't just watch as everything unravels.
I don't know if we can stop what's coming, but I know we have to try. We owe it to the planet, to its people, and to every living thing that's at risk. This isn't a distant problem; it's happening now, and it's happening to all of us. If we give in to despair, we've already lost.
