Artist's Description

This piece, "My Day Collapsing," is an emotional expression of a day that began well but is now imploding. I feel like I’m struggling to keep from being crushed. Despite this, I know I will regain strength. The beauty of nature—the sun, the earth, the fields of green—remains. I will expand again. I will be whole. But for now, I feel crumpled and small.

A vibrant concoction of colors creates an abstract visual with textured elements that seem to pop out from the surface. Shades of green dominate the lower section, symbolizing the grounding force of nature, while chaotic blues, pinks, and a speckling of other hues comprise the turbulent upper portion, reflecting the turmoil within..

About Megan Hale

Megan Hale

Megan Hale is a 36-year-old artist living in Peoria, Illinois. A dual citizen of Canada and the U.S., she lives with her life partner and has a deep love for film, especially horror. "For me, painting is therapy. It's way to process my trauma, recovery, fear, hope, shame, anger, and joy. My art evolves as I heal, and I heal as I create. Sometimes, it feels like breaking through a black-painted window into a world of broken glass. It still cuts, but I'm free. The wounds are healing. I paint to stay grounded, to give my emotions a voice. When I paints, I hears color and see sound. It’s overwhelming and beautiful. A way to feel and process everything at once.
